WHERE

WHEN

1857

Built in 1857, Garroorigang is the private home of the Hume family, descendants of explorer Hamilton Hume. Functioning first as an inn on the road to the gold fields, and then as a private boarding school for the 'Sons of Gentlemen', this gracious private home is filled with an extraordinary and rare collection of historical items and family memorabilia. The history of over 157 years has been carefully preserved in this historic home. Family members provide guided tours for groups and individuals through the homestead, telling visitors about the history and stories behind particular items, giving young and old a remarkable insight into daily life over the past 157 years.
